 Is this Summer?
Back to Full Blog

Wow what a different feel the air has, and seems like just last week we were close to 100 degrees. Won't be long and once again the leaves on our beautiful green trees will begin to change into their Fall clothing. I prefer the warmth of Summer over the chills of Fall and Winter, but I do realize that for some the up coming seasons are the greatest. And I have to admit that its mighty hard to beat "mother natures" beautiful Fall colors and her Winter coats of white. Remember to tell your children that while the frost on the mailbox is a tempting site....do not attempt to lick it off! But if they do, your local fire department has alot of experience separating children from frosty mailboxes. May the Father of our Universe richly bless you and yours....ochoco

Ochoco

That's a timely reminder - we used to get all the new kids to lick the flag pole at school - kids - we would laugh and then remember back when someone had done it to us. I was always a softy and I would bring a little water to "unstick" them -

We are in a cool down here in Central California also - and I'm headed for Reno, NV tomorrow for the weekend and they are saying maybe snow on top - boy it's to early for snow -

You have a great weekend my friend and think of me - I will be celebrating my 60th birthday tomorrow and this weekend. I'm not feeling a day over 35 - God is good and I'm living each day with joy and I hope you are also.

Hi ochoco!

Cold here too.....brrrrr! I'm not ready for it.....I like the heat of the sun. Now if only I could figure out how to get the colors of autumn to appear on the trees in the summertime and throw in a little snow on the 4th of July, I'd be all set! Hope you are well!

Loveya, CM

PLEASE READ WARNING LABEL in this week's OVERHEARD and SEEN.
This is NOT a JOKE, although it still feels like one to me.
I can't believe that Walmart or any other company can sell us a food service product with lead in it
simply by putting a warning label on the cord that says WASH YOUR HANDS!!!

PLEASE CHECK YOUR OWN HOMES.
Check your children's toys and rooms first.
Check your kitchens and bathrooms next.

You don't really know me but you can take it to the bank that I want you and your children to BE SAFE.

What are the health effects of lead poisoning?
The National Safety Council says:
There are many different health effects associated with elevated blood lead levels. Young children under the age of six are especially vulnerable to lead's harmful health effects, because their brains and central nervous system are still being formed.

For them, even very low levels of exposure can result in:
reduced IQ
learning disabilities
attention deficit disorders
behavioral problems
stunted growth
impaired hearing
kidney damage

At high levels of exposure, a child may become:
mentally retarded
fall into a coma
and even die

Within the last ten years, children have died from lead poisoning in New Hampshire and in Alabama. Lead poisoning has also been associated with juvenile delinquency and criminal behavior.

In adults, lead can:
increase blood pressure
cause fertility problems
nerve disorders
muscle and joint pain
irritability
memory or concentration problems

It takes a significantly greater level of exposure to lead for adults than it does for kids to sustain adverse health effects.

TAKE CARE OF YOU and YOUR FAMILY.
Please pass this along to your friends and family.
