How many of you have logged personal time with a person that has given up on life? In some cases, outwardly they appear to be right on track. While inside, their is a vacant dark place that has a terrible grip on them. And I have seen more than one that has allowed this black hole to completely envelope them and pull them down to a point of no return. To love a person that has such a thing going on with them is not enough. Engaging them in an effort to steer them away from their destructive behavior can be a very frustrating experience to say the least. Personally I believe the best approach to dealing with such an individual is to not forget your prayers for them, maintaining a position of acceptance, letting go, and realizing that their is but one God and he is watching and in control. How will it all turn out...we shall know that by living life "one day at a time."

To love a person is to hear the song that is in their heart,
And to sing it to them when they have forgotten ...
Love.
Peace.

This has been a hard lesson for me to learn because I've tried so hard to help certain people - I have the characteristics of a co-dependent. And of course I believe that "Love conquers all."
So I had to learn humility - I am not God. And I had to learn to leave things in God's capable hands. And yes, I continue to pray for the ones I know who are continuing down the path of self destruction.
I've learned I can't change people, and I can help only someone who wants help and is willing to change.
Great topic.
Hope you're feeling well!
Peace to you and yours,
Daisy
